Psalm 150 – Let everything praise the Lord

Psalm 150, the last Hallelujah Psalm brings book five of the Psalms to a close. Though the author is not known, in this Psalm he makes his final call to everyone and everything to praise the Lord. This call is so fitting a climax to the whole book of Psalms.
It is undeniable that praising God is the most needful and worthy exercise for all of God’s creation. Everything and everyone should make it a point to give God praise. Wherever we, whether His followers or not may be found, be it in the sanctuary where we assemble to worship, or in the open heaven where His power is displayed, we must praise Him.

And we praise Him for two reasons: firstly for Who He is, and secondly for what He has done and continues to do. And how should we praise Him? We should praise Him with all kinds of instruments. By all means, use all instruments - trumpet, lute, harp, tambourine, pipe, the strings, the organ or cymbals, both loud and crashing ones. Al these and many more instruments should all be deployed to resound praise to our great God. The only category exempted are those without breath. So as long as we have breath we must praise the Lord. Rejoice evermore! Praise is a fitting task for the upright. So let us praise God with all that we are, using all that we have, all the time, and all of our life! Praise the Lord!
