The author specially mentioned here two distinct occasions where
the children of Israel demonstrated faith. One was under Moses when they
crossed the Red Sea and the other was under Joshua, when they marched round the
walls of Jericho.
In verse 29, the author showed how the Israelites’
faith saw God delivering them from the pursuing army of Pharaoh. At the Red Sea , the Israelites obeyed God’s Word and marched
forward and did not turn back. Their faith in God resulted in their preservation,
whereas the army of Pharaoh who followed them through the Red Sea was drowned.
The second incident was recorded in Joshua chapter
6. The Israelites, under the leadership of Joshua, followed God’s specific
instruction and marched round the walls of Jericho seven days. Although it seemed
foolhardy to fight a war in that manner, they trusted God and acted on His
instruction. The outcome was the crumbling down of the entire walls.
There is no situation that faith cannot help to
open the way of God to work something positive out of dire circumstances.
Remember, God will make a way where there seems to be no way. He works in way
we cannot see, He will make a way for us. He will be my guide, holds me closely
to His sight. He will do something new today. By a road way in the wilderness
He’ll lead us. River in the desert we’ll
see. Heaven and earth will fade, but His word will still remain. He will make
something new today!
